2005 Mercury Sable garage door opener buttons in visor

I just bought a used 2005 Merc Sable LS with the 3 buttons in the driver visor to remotely open your home garage door. However, I can't seem to program any of them. My Ford suv has same and no problem in programing it.
Is there a fuse possibly that is faulty? I noticed the previous owner had clipped his handheld remote opener to the visor.

Check your hand book for fuse position if no hand book check all the fuses with a test light,other than that there is a method of programming it to the frequency ,if you search on line there's plenty of methods shown.other thought is frequency comparable with your door?
