when i switch on the ignition the dash lights up heater plugs go out and you turn the ignition theres nothing.you can sometimes hear a clicking at the back of the dash.i have noticed it dosnt sometimes show on dash if the car is in drive or neutral etc,but if you move the drive lever from park to neutral etc this sometimes allows the car to start when the dash shows if the car is in drive etc

Seems like you have got a problem with the inhibitor switch .
