2014 Mercedes Benz E Class 2014 mercedes e auto - intermitantly staying in 3/4 gear. paddles or switching to manual does not cure it. car reverts to save mode.

Variant: 2000 AMG
Happens intermittently. At first not very often and could be cured by stopping and switching off then restarting. Over a period of 2years got worse to the point switching off no longer cured the fault. Mercedes charge £175 per hr to try and diagnose the fault but found no solution. Fault still happens. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did they check for any software / hardware updates . Dependant on mileage , is transmission fluid due changing ? This shows a common fault on Merc transmissions . Unfortunately intermittent faults are often a pain to to diagnose .
