Hi Markmerc ...

Not a mechanic but a user! I know this sounds daft but your 'interior boot cover' IS latched up and secured properly, is it? I know I can't get my own softtop down if it isn't. It seems (in line with most convertibles I suppose) that, unless everything is 'cleared' by the softop mechanism as in line with the manual's requirements, it certainly won't open or shut.
In the absence of any warning light or audible warning on the centre console, it may well be something as silly as that?
