Rattle from rear brakes

2004 Mazda 3 TS2
Car: Mazda 3
Year: 2004
Variant: TS2
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I have an annoying rattle from rear brakes. If I touch pedal or pull handbrake up slightly rattle goes away. Passed MOT like this for last 4 years. Garage has checked pads and all ok.
Any ideas?

No reason why it would not pass a MOT test due to rattle .Seen this often on different makes of car if cheaper makes of pads fitted . Sometimes removing pads , cleaning out and using Copperslip grease on contact points helps .

It has got after market pads in the rear, but the garage have removed and copper greased the pads.
Someone else has suggested shims, but no shims in box when pads were fitted. Was thinking about asking local Mazda dealer if OE pads come with shims.

Cant recollect fitting OE pad kit not curing that type of fault , though there is always a first ! .A garage owner friend recently had a Merc and a VW Passat in the same day , same noise and same cure , replaced with OE parts .
