2006 Mazda 3 noise on overrun

1.6d engine as focus volvo peugeot etc.
accelorates fine no engine noise that isnt usual.
release accelorator pedal there is a metalic/bearing type of noise.press clutch all ok thought it was from turbo but checked impellor all ok. has been suggested could be egr partially open and will strip at weekend unless anybody has any other ideas it is a peugeot 9hx 1.6 tdi engine thanks

Is it definitely the engine and not transmission noise ?

could be transmission i thought of duel mass but realy dont know?
