Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi all, got a problem with my freelander where it wont start. I turn the key and nothing happens, no turn over or click or anything, then after several attempts it starts. Then later it does the same again but it is taking longer to start it now. any ideas welcome rather than going to main st(d)ealers. thanks

ok i am assuming that the dash board lights are coming on then this problem can only relate to a bad connection either to the back of the starter or it the switch that is breaking down on the back of the ignition barrel check these and clean them if needs be but i would say remove the wires on the starter and clean them if you can and this should help matters

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE YOUR ANSWER FROM THE FIRST SOLUTION OFFERED, I HAD THIS PROBLEM, IT WAS THE SWITCH AT THE BASE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, IT COST ME 10 QUID FOR A NEW SWITCH FROM MY LOCAL LR INDEPENDANT GARAGE. YOU COULD MAYBE PROOVE IT BY KEEP HOLDING THE KEY IN THE START POSITION THEN MOVING THE WIRE HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE SWITCH THE JIGGLE MAY CAUSE IT TO MAKE GOOD THE CONTACT THEREBY GOING SOMEWAY TO PROOVING THE PROBLEM AREA, GOOD LUCK
