2001 Land Rover Freelander key fob

The key fob only works first time if the car is parked horizontal. It can take up to 20 times to open or close the door if it is parked on a slope. I have two fobs and the problem is the same with both

Never heard of that before and cant think of any reason why . Tried changing fob batteries ?
