High tick over

Engine eventually starts but then ticks over at about 2500 rpm, and smells really rich!! (just had head gasket done)

check for air lock in water system as will idle high and be hard to start especially when warm.
remove header tank cap when cold run engine with cap off till all air escapes note if water sprays out of tank poss head gasget again. warrantee on head job?
