2018 Kia Stonic boot won’t open

Sounds like boot lock / actuator faulty . May possibly be something jammed , happens occasionally . You could try pushing down on boot whilst operating the switch . Otherwise you will have to go in through the interior and remove boot trim to see what is happening .

Hi ours is doing the same same year Kia stonic first edition
makes a whirring sound as if motor is trying to open it, we got it open can't see anything stuck in there did the same again once closed wondering if it maybe a sensor or something.

I have this same problem right now, ever since I stayed in Scotland and it dropped to minus 14, the boot hasn't opened since, it makes a noise like it's trying to open though.

Previous replies / suggestions above apply assuming the boot is no longer possibly frozen on rubber seal which I also had fairly recently on my own car

Having the same issue with my 67 plate Stonic, has anyone found the issue/managed to fix it?

Mines happened the same since its been cold. It won't open manually or via the key. Isn't this fault under warranty?

^ Will depend on your year , mileage and whether car has been serviced as per manufacturers schedule if you have any chance of warranty claim . Phone dealership and ask if your car qualifies for warranty .

I have just had the same prob . got at it from the inside and hit the latch etc with a rubber mallet - it work and I was able to open it from the outside BUT when i closed it again same problem ! Car is due to have a sensor warning light (engine) fitted in couple of days so hopefully will get it fixed then.

^ You should have pulled the boot trim when it was open and checked wiring , actuator , water intrusion and sprayed with WD before closing
