I HAVE A VIBRATION PROBLEM WHICH ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN 5TH GEAR. IF I DRIVE AT THE SAME SPEED IN 4TH GEAR THERE IS NOTHING, BUT WHEN I CHANGE TO 5TH THERE IS VIBRATION AND A RATTLE. IF I LIFT OFF THE THROTTLE THE VIBRATION AND THE RATTLE GOES AWAY. ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS?

Check exhaust mountings / heat shields ,though you should normally get the noise in other gears also .Could also check engine mountings .

hi whittingehame thanks for your reply, I have had the motor on the ramp today no problems found. The mechanic is leaning towards a bearing in the gearbox being at fault.I am trying to find out if anyone else has had a similar problem but no joy so far. Only 70k on the clock!
