2002 Kia Sedona front wheel bearings

Car: Kia Sedona
Year: 2002
Variant: 2.9 crd
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Car failed it's MOT on the fromt wheel bearing.
How easy a DIY job is it?
Is it relatively straight forward or do you require specialist tools to get the bearings out

I always used an hydraulic press - but then again, truck bearings are tight(!)
You should be able to knock the old bearing out using a socket or something similar as a drift which has the same diameter as the bearing, make sure you clean up the hub where the bearing has been with emery tape to ensure easy fitting of the new bearing.

You can knock the old bearing out using some old sockets that you don't mind damaging but you cannot install the new one using this method as you will damage the new bearing, you will need a hydraulic press or a very big vice and some help, also if the inner race of the old bearing comes out with the hub you will be in trouble without some serious heat to hand ie oxy accetelyne gas, leave it to a garage if you have'nt done one before.
