2004 Kia Picanto accelarator issue

Sometimes my car auto accelarates when I am pressing the clutch, goes upto 3rmp x1000. Even if I change the gear to neutral and leave everything, the accelarator goes 3 rmp.
I noticed it only few times. The mechanic at the garrage told me that it is automic and not to worry about, but I do not think this is normal.
Please let me know if this is normal?

by depressing clutch pedal you are taking load off of engine so revs can rise very slightly
