2008 Kia Magentis gear change

The gear change is very stiff, ie from Park to Drive. Once in drive after driving 100 yards the engine management light comes on & the vehicle goes into limp mode. Only drive on tick over 5mph. When you turn off the car & start after 3min it works ok but the gear change is still still to operate.

Could be a couple of faults , shift cable and input /output sensor fault .But you really need to get it scanned and see what fault codes are shown .
