If you are using that much it has to be leaking or burning oil and must show some symptoms indicating what the problem is

Car runs fine , small amount of smoke under hard acceleration but otherwise smoke free.
Not a spot of oil under the car where parked and engine , sump and gearbox all bone dry with no evidence of an oil leak.
Pcv was suggested as a possible answer by a mechanic relative who didn't seem to think the symptoms pointed to piston rings or valve stem oil seals due to how well the car runs and the limited amount of smoke it generates.

Usually if PCV valve is faulty it causes build up of pressure in crankcase which often causes oil leaks which you dont have . If you get the engine to working temp and leave to idle for a minute or so and then rev up , any wear on valve stem seals or guides should show on blue smoke from exhaust .
