Bonnet will not lock

I have a 58 plate 1.4 and the bonnet will not lock, it only stays shut on the safety catch. The release cable is slack.

The bonnet lock mechanism must be getting held open by the cable and not allowing it to return to the lock position . Either try freeing off with WD40 or replace the lock and cable if needed
