2004 Hyundai Getz sluggish engine check malfunction light

when I start the car its fine but as soon as I start going through the gears the check malfunction light flashes and the car starts to judder then after a while it seems to right itself the light stops flashing until I have to slow down again and start going through the gears I have recently had it serviced and the car has excellent service history and no advisories for the last two MOT's

Mot's and servicing really have little or no bearing.
your engine has developed a fault,
as the lamp shows.,
get it code read/scanned for the specific fault code and go on from there.
