Passenger airbag

My 6yr old son wants to travel in the front but I have passenger airbag.dont know if its safe so can it be disabled or removed? Help!

If you can disable it , open door ,look at end of dash and you should see a warning label and a lock . Insert ignition key and turn to the 'Off' position .But may be only certain models that have this option .
