1999 Hyundai Coupe car won't start

Some days my automatic Hyundai coupe won't start and the next day it will start. When I switch on ignition, it tries to start but just won't catch. Also yesterday it just stalled after starting. I have been told by Hyuandi its the Engine ECU that needs replacing costing £750, but they are not 100% sure this will cure the fault.Does anyone have any ideas ?

Worth checking or replacing engine coolant temperature sensor .
