2006 Hyundai Coupe electric door

Car: Hyundai Coupe
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.6S

The sender unit has packed in on my driver's door such that it will not unlock to the fob. Why does it not unlock mechanically with the key. Is this a common problem?

This is from HYUNDAI forum re n/s door but might help you .

Thanks guys.

I tried pulling the battery etc. To no avail. I'd given up hope.

Guy at work had a look for me - There was no play in the internal 'red' tab lock. Cables were still in place. Little movement in the key either. Anyway we 'wound down' the window, he stood outside of the car, so he could push the 'red' tab back and pull the external door handle at the same time. He's a big bloke and said he used a bit of his 'super strength' to push harder on the inside 'red' tab lock. - It opened!!!!

Once door was open we then had to 'operate' there and then on the door in the work's car park.

From my hours of research into this ... I'd almost memorised the following DIY's

We used:
http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showth ... p?t=123340

I found this too:
http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showth ... door+panel

To help strip back the door.

He then got the lock out - without taking the handle off - great guy.

And having read up .... I said we need to take the "yellow bit" off - you have to remove the actuator cover to get to it - about 3 small screws

This following link has a photo of the 'yellow' bit to remove
http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showth ... +door+open

He put it back together and my door works with the key and the internal 'red tab' moves just fine.

Basically the actuator motor was stuck solid/frozen - so as loads of other threads suspected. It was an broken actuator. - but you've got to get the door open to get to the *** thing!

I called the local dealer and they quoted £151 inc. Vat - part only!

A search on e-bay for "Hyundai Tiburon door actuator" - for less than £50 can get brand new one direct from Korea. Guess which option I'll be choosing.

I just think this site and our cousin 'Tiburon' one are just great. Amazing how a bit of brute force (applied in the right place )and a some knowledge can save you a fortune.

Good luck to future 'door stuck' coupe owners (I won't be the last) - my thoughts are with you - don't give up. There is hope.
