rather like not having the timing set correctly feels as if about to shake to pieces or judder and stop. Engine lacks power & then accelerates at will. passed MOT in December. New alternator Dec 2006, New points 2 weeks ago and new pod [ garage said sounds like arcing]. No power in low gears and when starting to move. Had from new been a little gem until now

sounds like engine timing that needs setting up but this can only be done by a garage and if it is arcing from one of the leads then they want replacing but if its the coil which is common as these melt the bottom of the coil and cause the arcing sound which could be a result of loss of power at low revs
