Rev counter racing when car is stopped and trouble starting the car

1998 Hyundai Accent MVI
Car: Hyundai Accent
Year: 1998
Variant: MVI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have recently got my car back from the garage after having a new head gasket put on. I is now difficult to start and once i have managed to get it started the Rev Counter is racing past the 1 when the car is not moving. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with the car as the garage seem to be baffled by it.

Thanks Sarah.

hi,
it sounds like the automatic valve(flap) for the auto choke is sticking, spray sum wd40 down the carburettor, then re-try, failing that then the top of the carb, where the auto choke is situated to be cleaned or possibly the spring replaced for the (flap), hope this helps.craig
