Engine cut out

1995 Honda Civic 1.3 Marlin
Car: Honda Civic

The wife's car, engine cuts out (when cold and warm) when taking foot off the throttle, happens regularly over the same 3 mile journey on one day, then is ok for a few days, but the cut out syndrome repeats several times on another day, fine again for the next few days etc etc; has been happening on imtermittent days for the past 3 months. Dodgy when slowing on roundabouts and junctions and you lose braking, power steering etc; She's not too happy about it, suspect electrics, any ideas where to start first?

i would suspect throttle position sensor is a fault but if you can get the car in your local garage and have them plug in a diagnostic computer which will tell you what sensor is at fault for you rather than replacing every sensor around the engine and costing alot of money

it sound like the single point injection unit very common but would try a carb cleaner around the butterfly , a new fuel filter and a fuel purge,
