With respect this is exactly what I said would be wrong and as before I said it is better to change the whole clutch kit, you are more than welcome to change just the release bearing but you may be lucky and have no clutch issues later on.

But! £450. Does seem very pricey, I charge around 100 plus parts for a std clutch change.complete clutch kits on eBay are from about 45

I would ask for a written quote to see how much they charge for items and labour charges. I don't have access to my autodata for clutch change times but would estimate 4-6 hours easy

you have probably been quoted for genuine parts. Honda parts can be dear.

No such thing as a genuine Honda clutch it will still be made by one of the main manufacturer's. Most independent garages will buy from a reputable dealers with full backup if the item fails.

Did you sort the clutch out. I had a civic in last week that needed a new gearbox and the owner wanted me to change the clutch.
