Rumbling noise

2001 Ford Mondeo 2.0 duratec
Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2001
Variant: 2.0 duratec
Categories: Leaks & Noises
i have just put some new piston rings and oil seals in. she starts fine but there is a low frequecy rumbling noise cominf from the cam cover area, and the tappets seem to be a tad noisier. if i never put one of the collets back properly woukld that cause the problem. i'm sure i have, i just cant seem to identify what is making this rumbling sound. at first i thought the cam was loose, so i rechecked them all( and broke a bolt in the process), any ideas would be appriciated.

If you never put one of the collets back properly most likely it would throw out with spring and cap and drop valve when started .Double checked timing ?

the car runs fine no timing issues. its one of those where the noise seems to be coming from one place, but actually comes from somewhere else.the noise is around the no4 inlet port, i have taken out the butterflies because this is a design fault, maybe its that which is causing the noise, the tappets are a tad louder than before but i am running her in right now. thanks for your input.

As you say , see how it settles down once it has some miles on the clock .
