2001 Ford Mondeo loss of power

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2001
Variant: 2.0 lt TDDi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have recently bought a 51 plate ford mondeo 2.0 litre TDDi. The engine severely lacks power and seriously struggles even to get to 30 mph, let alone 70 mph. The air intake appears to be working and with no obvious faults with the turbo. Fuel consumption is dramatically increased only getting around 200 miles per full tank of diesel. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
Thanks

do you have a management light on? if so a read of faults will help as it could be a few things causing the problem.

No, no engine lights at all. Been on a diagnostic and is not currently showing any faults. Bit stumped at what it could be!

check the EGR valve. remove it and clean it out. they block up real bad jamming the valve thus massive power loss. also there should be a hose that goes from the air filter housing to the boost pressure regulator. check that also... first things to check if there are no fault codes present
