2002 Ford Mondeo lack of engine power.

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2002
Variant: 2L zetec petrol
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,Went for a drive today and covered around 85 miles with no problem.Approx 5 miles from home I dropped into a garden centre.Started the car up and after about a couple of hundred yards the car started to judder and lose power. At every light or crossing the engine cut out and would only keep ticking over If I kept the revs up.Managed to get home but have no Idea what to do or what the problem Is.Would appreciate any help.

If it was just cutting out , would suspect idle air control valve needing cleaned / replaced . But as it's also losing power , more likely to be either plug , plug lead or coil pack failing / breaking down .
