2001 Ford Mondeo engine managment light

hi. i was driving my car along and suddenly the engine managment light came on. the fuel gauge showed 87 miles, then 33 miles, then 10 miles then fuel light came on then back up to 87 miles. it carried on like this for about 2 mins. now when i drive the car is shakes when i drive it and also shakes when its stationary. Any ideas before i take it to the garage ?

Car engine is misfiring , check plugs , coil pack , leads etc.
