car drives fine then i went out to start it this morning it turns over ok but just wont start. this happened then i went out the next night and it started first time. was driving fine for days then i went out today and it wouldnt start again. done the self test thing and the battery output is less than 10volts is this the problem do you think the cold is affecting the battery

A 10 volt battery is useless . Get the battery tested and check alternator output at same time .

Forgot to add , most fast fit centres / Halfords or good accessory shops usually test battery and alternator FOC while you wait .Other thing you could do is charge battery and see if o.k after that , but if weak cell/s wont hold a charge .If still having probs after that , get back to board for more help .All the best .

You would have to remove and take battery to get it tested and then when car started , get alternator tested later .
