Glow plug warning light flashes and car goes into 'safe' mode?

2006 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Diesel
Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2006
Variant: 2.0 TDCi Diesel
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Occasionally when i initially start the car the glow plug warning light remains on and flashes. The car then has limited power, it doesn't jump or misfire it just has limited acceleration. To cure the problem i pull over, turn off the engine, re-start and the problem is cured until the next time, usually about a week or so. Any ideas?

try changing the fuel filter,i had the same problem on my car with glow plug light flashing,i changed the fuel filter and gave it a good run and its been ok ever since, get your fault codes checked as it could be an injector or fuel pump problem
