This could be your fault .

Ford Focus 1999 and Mondeo up to 2001

Problem: Inaccurate reading of the fuel gauge.

Solution: A common situation is the fuel gauge reading zero after a fill-up. The problem is caused by a faulty fuel pump module which will have a poor / open circuit contact. A new revised fuel level sender card assembly should be fitted.

worth checking all the wiring connections to fuel sender unit and fuel gauge on dash before replacing anything

try a second hand fuel pump fuel pump if that works you know it is the pump
