2002 Ford Mondeo reving its self

when you are driving along they is no problem but when you come to a stop the car revs to 2000 rpm then drops to 1500rpm then to idle revs but if you roll up to a set of lights and you take it out of gear and you are still rolling the rves up to 2000 rpm thil afew secitions after you stop then goes to 1500 rpm then to idle speed how can i stop this from happing

Try cleaning idle control valve / throttle body .

check there are no leaks on the inlet manifold and make sure all vacuum pipes are in good condition

its not any of them as it was ticking over fine but was not running right before i changed the spark plugs and the ht leads because one of the plugs had broke. afther i change them i got this fault

i got the same problem on a y plate 2.0ltr lx, have been told it could be the air flow sensor is blocked and is over compensating or your fuel to air mixture is wrong might be worth checking.
