Ford Mondeo instrument panel delay

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 1.8LX
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The instrument panel (Speedo/Rev Counter/Fuel Gauge/Temperature Gauge and Mileage Reading) delays on coming on when putting on the ignition and starting the car. There is a delay of about 8 seconds before they all come on the same time. The car runs OK. Any ideas what the problem is and the fix?

as long as they are all coming on and working ok then just leave it,unless you want to take the instrument panel out and check your wiring connector is tight,

Don't really know answer but seems to be a common fault as this is from Mondeo forum . Username Post: Instrument Cluster Delay (Topic#835345) mondismo Newbie Loc: Plymouth Reg: 15-05-10 Feedback Rating (0) 15-05-10 11:02 AM - Post#1964558 Everytime i start the car (it starts and runs fine everytime) the instrument cluster (speedo/trip computer/rev counter/fuel gauge) has about a 15second delay before they turn on, the engine runs fine for those 15seconds but it would be nice to know why its doing this. Can anyone help with this? Cheers No one replied with possible solution to cause . Only thing I found on subject was this which might help ? worth a try ? Best I can do to help . Entering Self-Diagnostic Mode To enter the instrument cluster Self-Diagnostic Mode simultaneously press and hold the tripmeter reset button and turn the ignition switch to position II. When tESt is displayed in the LCD release the button. The instrument cluster will enter the gauge sweep test. To navigate through the Self-Diagnostic Mode tests press the tripmeter RESET button repeatedly as required. The self-test is deactivated when the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position or when the tripmeter reset button is pressed and held for 5 seconds.
