1996 Ford Mondeo missing and kangarooing, jerking.

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 1996
Variant: 2.0 LX Manual HC 100,000Miles
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have had the car for 2 years now and after 1 year it started to ever so slightly kangaroo/surge when slightly lifting your fooot off the accelerator. Now 1 year down the line and a huge garage bill to go with it, it's worse. While driving along in any gear cruising between 1500-2750 revs, just holding your speed on the accelerator pedal slightly, it violantly jerks/ kangaroos/ surges back and forth as if someone was learning to drive. I can't find anyone to help me with this problem. I have had these new parts put on it:

Coil Pack
New Plugs (Champion)
New Leads
MAF Sensor
Removed and cleaned injectors

The problem is still exactly the same, i took it to Ford and they didn't come up with much, he said "there might be a problem with leaking coolant onto plugs" The water level has never dropped, so i'd says it's not that. They also said there is a faulty speed sensor. Is this likely to affect the running of the car? Any help would be appreciated as i am over this car. Thanks

The VSS vehicle Speed Sensor on the Ford car is used for a variety of things.

First and foremost is the emission control. Without the VSS the car can actually start to stall. The ECU can call for more fuel or to little fuel at speeds.

Other things that the VSS is connected to are the cruise control, SRS airbag system and other safety features like the anti-submarine seats.

If the car is automatic, then the pulse from the VSS is used in conjunction with the rev counter as well as throttle position sensor to change gear at the optimum time.

This is according to my friendly Fraud tech.

check your idle control valve is`nt clogged up.might be worth just removing it and giving it a clean out

check your wiring on the throttle position sensor and the wires on the coil pack examine them right at the end of the plug connector as they are sometimes just hanging on by a single strand so dont look broken
