2005 Ford Mondeo mpg on trip computer is haywire.

hi while driving my lights all come on ie eml /airbag etc and my rev counter and speedo dropped to 0 .car wae still running and the lights went off after 10 seconds or so and my speedo and rev counter picked up .
everything seems ok but my average milage on my trip computer is going haywire can anybody help please.

This could be a possible problem with the alternator, and a hardware problem occouring due to the lack of power?
