Just wondered if you have any ideas as my 99 T reg Ford Cougar is sort of kangerooing... when you try to maintain a speed, the car is jolting forward & increasing the rev's itself.! I don't know if this is related but the car increases the revs momentarilly whilst ticking over at preset increments. The problem seems to be made worse if the air con is on however it does continue to do this without the air con being on. The cougar has recently been serviced but these problems remain. Just wondered if you had any idea what it could be? As the Garage is charging me alot for fixing different faults that they think might be the problem but nothing they come up with has solved the problem and it's really bugging me. Any ideas gratefully received, thanks in advance. sj

i dont understand why you are paying the garage for repairs when the problem is still there you shouldnt be paying anything as i now i wouldnt
any way have you replaced the idle speed control valve as this would cause the rev to rise and fall due to carbon build up and one other thing to help diagnose the fault would be find a garage that has got a fault code reader that they can plug in and read any faults that may be stored in the ecu and it would also be able to tell them what sensors are working and also the ones that arent working at all

Idle air control valves are very common on fords and also ecu's become lazy to respond to throttle position voltage, i usully get round this by drilling out the metal sleeves and elongating the holes to obtain a signal voltage of 0.5 when the throttle is closed
