2003 Ford Mondeo bad smell

Bought the car about 6 months ago and generally pleased with it. Very intermittently I get a bad smell (only way I can describe it is like a fart!). Tried monitoring when it's happening and does seem to be when I'm on incline in slow moving traffic. What is this? Cat converter problem? Thanks.

some times you can get a very bad smell,(like bad eggs,sulphur'y smell),when your battery is ready to pack in,this happend to me,car started to turn over very slow,battery stunk of bad eggs,just a thought,(saying that though,ones at work my mate put a kipper on my engine,for a laugh,half way home it stunk my car out,had to laugh when I found it,sod

the smell that you are getting is comming from the cat as its doing its job its nothing to worry about its normal usually due to short trips and driving like miss daisy go out some time in the week or weekend and give the mondeo a few more revs up to about 5 1/2 thousand revs in every gear just to clear the molecules in the cat
