1996 Ford Mondeo horn, central locking, alarm, reversing lights all playing up now won't start

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 1996
Variant: 1800 Turbo Diesel estate
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
First the horn stopped working {it has air horns fitted}, then the reversing lights stayed on all of the time, next the alarm started going off at odd times {driving down the road} and the only way to turn it off is to lock and unlock the car, next the cenral locking stopped working and the engine won't even turn over {only the battery light is coming on on the dash}, this has all happened in a matter of a couple of weeks and I can't believe it's not all related. Any idea's what to try first.
