2001 Ford Mondeo knocking through steering

I have noticed that I am now getting a knocking feeling through my steering wheel when I turn it. It is like someone is tapping on it. This happens whether I am stationery or moving. It just cam on one day and it seemed to be after I had turned sharply while pulling out of a junction. Can anyone help?

I had this problem on a year old 06 estate that I still own. I greased up the universal joints on the steering column and the problem hasn't returned in 2 years. I hope this works for you too, it doesn't take long to do so worth a try.
