1998 Ford Mondeo misfire on acceleration

hi again ive just taken the cat converter of my mondeo and its broken up inside ...will this cause it to loose power on acceleration but ticks over fine,,,ive checked the plugs/leads and they seem to be ok the plugs were a bit sooty is it because of the cat converter..

blocked cat will cause sooty plugs replace cat then check for misfire minor misfire wont damage cat but dont drive till sure its gone.you can check leads by coating in wd40 cranking engine and if a lead is shorting the spark will ignite the wd and blow the lead out (stand well back)replace as a set.
