Hi
Taking about 5 or 6 turn overs to start car
No glow warning sign on dash when starting

looks like r4 is the relay
but would this stop glow plug warming light coming on ?

Did the light come on previously ? On some you won't have any glow plug operation until an ambient temperature of 3 degrees or below, On some it's only a fraction of a second its on and off.

Hi at that age you could have a glow plug issue ,a quick test is to disconnect the plugs then using a test light connect to positive on the battery and probe to top of plug ,if it lights then good circuit through windings or glow plug circuit,if not or poor light then possibly faulty plug other thing to check if plastic inlet manifold is that air shut off throttle inside is not sticking shut when engine is shut off .Hope this helps ,
