2016 Ford Mondeo tailgate handle fallen off

A couple of months ago I found the left internal, nearside tailgate handle lying on the floor of the boot, as the car is on a fully maintained lease deal I took it to my local dealer who checked with the lease dealer who said that it wasn't covered by the terms of the contract so I had to pay for the repair. When I got the invoice the problem was shown as "damage" which annoyed me but I paid it. Yesterday when I opened the tailgate, the other right side handle fell off! No doubt they will try the same excuse so has anyone else come across this design fault and been able to prove that's what it is?
