2005 Ford Mondeo weird dash fault

Driving on the motorway cruise control set at 70 the dash lights all came on gauges hit max then 0 no loss of power but mpg display was showing 48mpg mileage counter reset itself to 0 and mpg display shot up to 65mpg the car radio was working OK didn't lose saved stations car clock still showing the right time any ideas ? P.s the car is serviced every 6 mths but occasionally it does run a bit rough to start with I have owned the vehicle for 3yrs and have had a new fuel pump and fan belt and pulleys

How old is battery ? a low battery can cause all sorts of problems like this . If not sure , worth getting it load tested usually F.O.C at the likes of Halfords or large accessory shop .

Hi the battery is nearly 2 yrs old it was changed when the fuel pump was replaced as the garage that repaired the car said the old battery was about shot thanks for replying i will get it chucked on a diagnostic check

Good idea to checkout alternator out put when under load at same time .
