2011 Ford Mondeo indicator starts working on its own whilst driving

About a month ago I noticed the indicator light come on the dash . Thought I had brushed the arm at the time .but it's got worse over the last week and in a journey of about 100 miles it will switch it's self on four or five times always off side . And it has switched the park light on its own the other night . Changed battery for a new one last week but no change Hopefully some one has an idea what it is .

Sounds like a faulty indicator switch / stalk

i had the same problem on my focus...it was a GEM problem. water got into it. try to check fore DTC code. if it turn none, the gem it's gone
