Engine Malfunction warning sign

2007 Ford Mondeo 1.8 tdci
Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2007
Variant: 1.8 tdci
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
When driving the car up steep hills the car warning sign comes up with Engine Malfunction. Then the car goes into safe/ limp mode. I then have to stop, turn the engine on and off then it drives fine then. It's an intermittent problem. Ford plugged it in and couldn't find any faults raised. New glow plugs have been fitted as that's what they recommended which so say would "fix" the problem but still happens. Help please...??

Cant figure out how new glow plugs would cause that .Have you had fuel filter changed ? might be worth doing if not .

I was puzzled at the glow plug change too. It's still under warranty so I will keep pushing to get sorted. Could it be a sensor problem? Any other ideas??

If the EML light was on ,very unusual it is not showing a stored fault code .A diagnostic scan should also have shown any faulty sensors .
