2004 Ford Mondeo water leaking in front drivers foot well

I've noticed that the carpet is damp in the front drivers footwell. I've looked at the seal and opened the door but there is no evidence of any water collecting ?. I've run my hand up the carpet from the pedals to the engine but it is bone dry. Any suggestions are most welcome.

On some Mondeos there was problems with water coming in at the pollen filter .
