Petrol Consumption

1995 Ford Mondeo si
Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 1995
Variant: si
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hello, I bought this car around a year ago,
lovely condition, 80,000 miles. It was doing
220 miles per £40.00 of petrol. I have since made some modifications to the car. I
have had a Powerflow exhaust fitted, Powertec induction system, Collins computer chip and ecotec valve. It has a new MAF,a new Lambda sensor, new HT Leads and NGK Spark Plugs. Just recently I've noticed the water temp guage is not moving, so I fitted
a new thermostat. Now it seems to do as it pleases, yesterday nothing, today back to normal. Maybe it had an air bubble that's cleared itself. Now even with all the mods, I was still getting a good 200 miles per £40.00. Now to the crux of the matter, for
about three weeks I've only been getting
between 130-165 miles per £40.00. Has anyone got any ideas? I love the car and would hate to get rid of it. The original Handbook says 25 mpg-urban. I cant work out
how close to that I'm getting. Anyway, if anyone can help me, suggest something to try, I would be most grateful.
Peace and Best Wishes...Harry.
P.S. Sorry for rambling on!

Hello, I was wondering if any one could help me out? I have a Mondeo 2L si, 82000 miles. All of a sudden, my petrol consumption has shot up. When I first bought her, she was doing on average
about 220 miles per £40.00 Now I'm lucky if I get 155 miles per £40.00. I haven't changed anything, that wasn't the same before the problem. A very nice man took the trouble to answer this question first his name was
Nightcaller, he advised temperature guage change, which I have. But no change. Thank you very much anyway mate. A mechanic told me to fit a new EPGD valve. That was after he plugged one of those computer things in. He said it was dead. Ford want £80.00 for this part. Any suggestions as to where I could get one cheaper? Well, thanks again. Peace and Best Wishes...Harry.
