Car heater works when it wants

the heater works when it wants i can be driving along and the heater will come on and i cant turn it off other times it will turn itself on and i can turn it off sometimes when i turn it on it wont come on when its on i cant adjust it it just seems to do what it wants please can anyone help many thanks

cheers tommy i have checked ref 14531 but it just tells me about a heater only working on no.4 setting and about a resistor would a resister solve my problem or is it something else thanks for your help

Check the resistor wiring and plug at motor .
