2001 Ford Mondeo car shakes when changing gears especially between 1, 2 and 3

Hy I would be really grateful if you could help me with this problem. Just bought a car off a guy, a Ford Mondeo 2001 2.0 ... A friend of mine did the servicing but still when I change gears the car shakes for about 3 seconds and its happening all the time now. But on a constant speed it's smooth. Also, there seems to be a weird noise from the exhaust or is it just me? When I did MOT my friend said that valve 4 wasn't changing to 5 or something like that and that it needed just a good servicing. But I am not too sure now. Thanks

Could be dual mass flywheel , clutch assembly or engine mountings.Need to get it checked out by a mechanic/garage. Dont know what 4 to 5 refers towithout more info.Take it is not an automatic.

as above but sounds like could be an engine problem a misfire caused by plugs /leads/or mechanical problem valve or hydraulic valve lifter this used to be a problem if wrong grade of oil is used i would get a compression test done to confirm or rule out this fault
