1999 Ford Mondeo speedo stoped working and gear box has gone bonkers

I was driving home from essex with my new car all was fine when the speedo started to jump about then stoped. I lost top gear and the gear box started changing up and down. Gear change was smooth when i got it but is now jurky can anyone help,Regards Mark.

Would require a diagnostic ,but from your description a sensor issue with the gearbox.

That can happen if battery is low .It affects the TCM ( transmission control module) .Worthwhile checking battery and alternator as well as " bustedknuckles" advice .
